Development from the small locksmith's shop to an international heating system manufacturer demonstrates: the American dream is also possible in Austria!

In 1921, Anton Windhager, an apprentice blacksmith and locksmith, set up his own business in Seekirchen.

The years of the economic miracle: by 1955, the company was already employing 77 people.

The path towards brand communication was embarked on at the outset of the 1960s, with the first publicity activities on television and posters.
In 1969, Werner Windhager took over the family firm.
Company headquarters in Seekirchen. From 1978 onwards, Windhager offered an impressive product advantage by introducing a 3-year full guarantee. The production and administration buildings have been continually expanded over the years.

Europe-wide success for greater quality
In the 1980s, Windhager Zentralheizung finally achieved market leadership in Austria with a modular system for oil, gas and solid-fuel boilers as well as hot water tanks.
By the mid-1980s, the company had become international with branches in Geneva (St. Prex) and Lucerne (Sempach), both in Switzerland. This was followed by the establishment of a German sales agency in Augsburg (Meitingen), followed by another in Leipzig (Delitzsch) in 1991.
In 1994, Windhager achieved certification according to the ISO 9001 quality assurance system.
1998: The two Swiss subsidiaries were merged under one management.
2000: The two German subsidiaries were merged under one management.
Perpetum burner In 2001, Windhager succeeded in making a quantum leap in oil combustion technology. The MIRA low-energy oil-fired boiler with its globally patented Perpetum burner was the first modulating oil-fired boiler.

Punching laser centre 2003: Our production facilities were modernised. This resulted in one of the largest and most modern production lines for pellet boilers in Europe.

In early 2004, new design specifications were unveiled and these were applied to the first products. Our new control and display unit is particularly noteworthy.
2005: Conversion of Windhager Zentralheizung AG into the two companies, Windhager Zentralheizung GmbH (Sales and Customer Service Austria, Export) and Windhager Zentralheizung Technik GmbH (Development, Production)
